Symposia History

TPS Then & Now

GREAT HAIR, SHARP ‘STACHES, EVEN SHARPER MINDS

Several leaders, authors and advisers of the technical program have been with TPS since its inception in 1972, or very close to it. Through our TPS Then & Now campaign, we share their experiences and professional headshots featuring the best hairstyles and mustaches the 70s and 80s had to offer.

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

The Houston Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia began as a 200-person Turbomachinery Symposium on the campus of Texas A&M University in 1972. The Pump Symposium was founded in 1984 and joined with Turbo for a singular event in 2011. The Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium is an extension of the longstanding Houston Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia.Flip through the History brochure (click the brochure cover) to learn more about our beginnings.
